Christian and Jet have arrived in Orkney and will be walking the whole coastline.
It is thought that there are at least 1000 military veterans in Orkney and with 2 of the Orkney News’ Directors also being veterans we thought it was time to share again links to social groups, information and support that might be of interest to Orkney’s veterans.
“It is said that we compress time when it falls within our own lifetimes, and expand it when we think of times past. But having the privilege of being here reverses the process. Today, the life of Eric Milroy isn’t our past but our present.”
Orkney’s Military Veterans meet up for breakfast on the last Saturday in the month.
The 2nd Birthday will take place on Saturday 26th of January from 9 – 11am Royal British Legion Kirkwall
There were 17 of us this morning, Saturday 29th of December, in the Kirkwall Legion spread out a bit.
“There were 15 of us sat down to breakfast Saturday last. “

There were 18 of us sat down to breakfast in The Royal British Legion in Kirkwall with some new faces.
“This year marks the 10 year anniversary of the Veterans Fund with more than £1.3 million already given to over 150 projects throughout Scotland since 2008.”
