Brochs are found in the north of Scotland and the Northern Isles. Amazing towering dry stane constructions they were domestic homes but also strategically placed. They were formidable towering buildings.
The most complete broch is found in Shetland, Mousa Broch. Orkney also has many but some are mere mounds on the landscape.

It looks to me like the one at the right-hand side of the Bay of Skaill, too. I didn’t know it had a name – you learn something new every day.
