Something Different Something Deerness

This weekend 4th and 5th November sees the biennial Art and Craft Market in the Deerness Hall which ran from 10am-4pm on Saturday and shall be on again from 11am-4pm tomorrow Sunday. We went along on Saturday for a look and were amazed at the amount, variety and skills that were on show. There were a whopping stalls in all with a choice of goods to purchase from, feltwork, glassware, knitwear, Individually passported Tweed Teddies to farm produce and home bakes.

The array of goods quite literally cheers the spirit, seeing first hand that a community the size of Deerness has so many thriving Arts and Crafts producers able and willing to put their goods on show, all with their individual stories which can’t help but make you smile.

Either before or after a browse around all the stalls, have a wee sit down in the Mermaid Cafe and enjoy a cuppa with the choice of filled rolls (the bacon one smelled scrummy), homemade soup and a variety of bakes all supplied and served by  The Friends of St Ninian’s.

The is also a super prize draw, so if you are in Orkney, why not take yourselves off out East for a wholly enjoyable and highly recommended visit, you won’t be disappointed.
