The Remembrance Sunday parade started on time from outside the Kirkwall British Legion. The Kirkwall City Pipe Band led the parade along Junction Road.
The parade then turned up Castle Street into Broad Street where they marked time in front of the cathedral until all the parade behind them arrived.
The weather was not as kind this year as previous years, very windy, very cold with wintry showers made it very uncomfortable for all. I applaud all standing there today, whether on the parade or watching from the sidewalks, for turning out in great numbers to remember.
The Colour Party then marched to the war memorial before the 2 minutes silence.
The 2 minute silence then took place.
Nominated members of each group on the parade, then left ranks to lay wreaths at the war memorial.
The Colour Party then rejoined the parade, where the parade then marched to the Cathedral for the Remembrance service.
After the service the parade marches back to the Legion where they are offered much needed hot drinks/soup etc before they are ordered to fall out.
