Local MSP Maree Todd, SNP has urged Tavish Scott and Liam McArthur (LibDems) to get round the table with Derek MacKay and work to acheive fair ferry funding.
Maree Todd said:
“I have been advocating on behalf of my constituents for fair internal ferry funding for some time and I will continue to talk to the government about achieving it.
“However, it is clear that if Liam McArthur and Tavish Scott were also willing to talk to the government about this then we would see much quicker progress.
“What they currently seem to be suggesting is that even if it were included in the budget, they still would not back it.
“There is still time to achieve it in this budget. If Tavish Scott, Liam McArthur and their party colleagues are willing to come to the table with Derek Mackay and ask for it.
“Derek Mackay has made it absolutely clear that his door remains open to that and I hope that Tavish and Liam put aside party politics on this issue and work with other parties to achieve it.”
