A cloudy and mostly dry start for Orkney, but some blustery showery rain over Shetland. Strong winds and outbreaks of locally heavy rain spread northeast during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Heavy rain and gales for Orkney at first, soon clearing northeast, but persisting for Shetland until shortly after midnight. Frequent showers follow overnight. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Sunday 25 October :

Frequent showers for Shetland through the day, turning to more persistent rain for Orkney in the afternoon. Severe gales developing for Orkney through the afternoon into the evening. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Frequent showers clear and the wind eases down Monday morning. Strong winds, showery rain return from Monday night and continue through Tuesday Winds easing through Wednesday with sunshine and showers.
