My garden has very little soil and is stony so I have to grow some things in containers. My potatoes this year were grown in a couple of tyres (that I got from the Orkney Zero Waste yard in Stromness) – one on top of the other – filled with soil. Storm Hector, just when they had come into leaf, battered them and the leaves shrivelled but new ones grew after a few weeks.

I’ve had better years but they will be tasty and nothing to peel.
