Waulkmill Bay in Orkney is one of several beaches to take part in Pages of the Sea, part of the 100 years commemoration events to mark the end of The Great War.
Film maker, Danny Boyle has launched the events which will see a poignant art installation etched into the sand on beaches across the British Isles.
“This will be a unique moment to say goodbye and thank you, together, to the millions of men and women who left their shores during the war, many never to return. Join us at one of the beaches around the UK or take part online.” Danny Boyle
Pages of the Sea will take place on 11th of November to mark 100 years since the Armistice marked the end of World War One.
Waulkmill is one of the first beaches to be confirmed as participating but it is hoped that more communities will join in.
