At the OREF held at the ICIT campus on Nov 6th- “Why the grid rules are changing and Future Energy Scenarios” Martin Lee in a highly technical talk outlined forthcoming  changes to grid connections.

In future  new Photovoltaic (PV) installations and wind turbines will be able to be turned off by the grid in order to protect the grid. Some generating systems like coal fired plants cannot be turned off easily. Existing  PV and Wind turbine installations will be unaffected .
