By Wendy Alford
a catching of breath
expectation
scarcely perceptible
not Christmas
just Gaia
shifting
the song thrush is back
not so loud as in the Spring
tunefully pensive
the trees are quiet
still
only the pale leafed eucalyptus
flickering
cars and trucks
moving along the road
are normal
unaware they are missing
something important
I want to shout
at their indifference
the light is low
with ebbing clouds
shadows of past solstices
circles of years
cross the haunted sky
December 21st 2012
not a premonition
but an opportunity
reaching out
for us to grasp
my hopeful arms
stretch wide
Many thanks to Bernie Bell for sending in the poem and the image

Bernie, I love this poem…so peaceful, Richard W.
Wendy has written many poems, some of which have appeared in TON.

I very much hope that she will bring them together, and publish them, one day.
Meanwhile, I send them to TON – with her permission!
