Finnie hits out at extension of ADS:“Once again, the Scottish Government seems seduced by air travel.”

Local MSP John  Finnie, Scottish Greens, has hit out at the Scottish Government for extending the Air Discount Scheme to Caithness and Sutherland.

Air Discount Scheme Extended

John Finnie said;

John Finnie“The Scottish Green Party recognise the importance of lifeline air services to the Western and Northern Islands and fully support the continuation of the Air Discount Scheme.

“However, the announcement that the scheme will be extended to east Sutherland is simply ridiculous, bizarrely delivering subsidised air travel for Dornoch.

“Once again, the Scottish Government seems seduced by air travel.

“Giving a 50% discount in flights for those an hour from Inverness by road, or to those living by the much under invested Far North Rail line makes no sense.

“It will also come as news to many in east Sutherland that their government considers they live, ‘in some of Scotland’s most remote communities.’

“I will ask the Scottish Government to publish their Business regulation Impact Assessment for their latest hair-brain transport initiative.”

  1. John, given the pressures on an MSP’s time can I ask you this simple question? What means of transport have you used over the last twelve months to get about your Constituency?

    • Dont hold out for an answer the greens like the snp just cut n paste from the westmonster dictotoriat.

      • No Malcolm, Wastemonster’s (not Westmonster) Tories, Labour and Fib/Dems leave all others way-behind in their wake .
