Scottish Parliament Invites Those Born 1st July 1999 to Celebrations

On Thursday 1 July 1999, on the same day the Scottish Parliament assumed its legal powers, 163 children were born in Scotland.

Every child was presented with a commemorative medal from the first First Minister Donald Dewar.

On its 10th anniversary back in 2009 Parliamentary officials managed to locate 145 children, 142 of whom travelled from across Scotland, the UK, Canada, the USA and even the Faroe Islands to attend the celebrations on 1 July 2009.

The hunt is on to find all those who were born in Scotland on 1st July 1999 so that they can join in the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.
