After success in the Scottish Short Film Festival The Orkney News animation ‘A Gude Cause Maks a Strong Erm’ will be shown at the Women Over Fifty Film Festival (WOFFF).
The animation produced by Orkney artist Martin Laird won the most original/creative category at the SSFF. This week it will also be shown at the Paris International Animation Film Festival , PIAFF,from 17th – 23rd of September, where Martin will meet other animators.
A Gude Cause Maks A Strong Erm is all about the Orcadian Woman’s Suffrage Society and it is wonderful that another part of the history of Orkney is being highlighted far from the shores of the islands.
The WOFFF celebrates the work of women in front of and behind the scenes in film making who are over 50. Narrator, Kim Foden and researcher/writer Fiona Grahame both slip into that category (only just!?!).
WOFFF19 runs from 20th – 22nd of September at Lewes Depot, Pinwell Road, Lewes. As well as showing films the festival runs courses and has free showings of selected films.
And if you haven’t seen A Gude Cause Maks A Strong Erm it is free to view on YouTube
