Poetry Corner Wish You Were Here

On this day in 1975 Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” reached No.1 in the United States, it then went on to sell over 13 million copies. That is all the reason I need to put up these wonderful lyrics and song.

Wish You Were Here

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here
We’re just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
And how we found
The same old fears
Wish you were here
Songwriters: David Gilmour / Roger Waters
