Christmas Spotting With The Orkney News!

By Bernie Bell

It’s December – time to start Christmas Spotting!  And you could start at Fern Valley Wildlife Centre, which is still open at weekends. http://www.fernvalleywildlifecentre.co.uk/   The tearoom is open to the public, whether you want to visit the animals, or not – I’d advise visiting the animals, too –  but I am biased!

In the tearoom, we spotted a seasonal confection created by Karen – a gingerbread house, with a chocolate button roof, and a peedie smartie shed.

It’s all edible – even the windows!

We’d had a walk at Evie sands, got thoroughly frozen, so headed for Fern Valley  for warmth, great views, and being watched by a lemur……

…. while I ate a snowman!  Another bit of Christmas Spotting.  The cakes had a generally Christmassy theme, with sugar swirly sticks round the chocolate cake, icing snowflakes on the strawberry cake, and….edible snowmen!

Holidays are coming, holidays are coming………….

I just thought – folk could adopt an animal at Fern Valley, as a Christmas present for an animal-loving family member or friend?  http://www.fernvalleywildlifecentre.co.uk/adoptions.html
