Poetry Corner: Life Lived As An Emoji

By Bernie Bell

“How Sad”

“How Sweet”

“Sad Face”

“Happy Face”

“I’m sorry to hear that…….”

“Aaaaah!”

 ****

All easy to say.

How much thought is there?

 ****

Fact is…..

If you don’t lift the drain cover –

You don’t see what’s in the sewer.

****

BUT –

It’s now leaking out into ‘Real Life’ TM.

****

How sad.

  1. Thank you Fred!!!

I wondered how many people would notice, and delight in, the running man. I think he makes the picture.

When I first saw the ’I ‘heart’ Real Life’ neon sign , I was puttering away – thinking it was by a pretentious arse – then, I saw that Ross Sinclair http://www.contemporaryartsociety.org/artist-members/ross-sinclair/ did this, as part of an on-going series of works, about …..how ‘real life’ is messed about with/interpreted. So now, I like it.
I don’t know if he knows that it’s been placed next to the fire exit – the man running away from ‘real life’ – I hope he does.

    Isn’t life a hoot sometimes?
