It is one of the pleasures of a Friday to visit the Wood B Good St Colms Cards and Cafe. Every Friday from 10 am to 2pm the staff, volunteers and students of St Colms prepare and serve cakes, scones, soups, filled rolls and a main.
The service is excellent – friendly and efficient.
Daniel Laud, Lecturer in Hospitality at Orkney College UHI, has been teaching the students and staff food preparation and how to serve it to customers. Having been visiting the cafe now for some time the skills of the students in the food they make and in their interaction with customers cannot be understated. Every week they just get better and better. This is learning and teaching at its very best.
Following on from the success of the Friday cafe there are going to be extra openings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in March (see the poster for details).
And if you don’t know where St Colms is in Kirkwall it is round the back of the Glaitness School.
They also have an excellent workshop and shop so check those out for a wide range of gifts and cards.
