The Scottish First Minister asked the public to comply with new restrictions to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, coronavirus, tonight, 23rd of March.
These include:
Going out only to shop for basic items – food and medicines
Going out to take one form of exercise a day
Going out only for medical needs and care needs – or to help a vulnerable person
Going out to travel to and from work – but only if it is a necessity
Shops which do not provide basic essentials such as food and medicines should close.
If you have coronavirus symptoms and need additional advice, dial NHS24 on 111 – in and out of hours – not phone your GP.
It is hoped that the public will comply with this voluntarily but Police Scotland will respond to enforce it if neccessary.
The Orkney News will keep you update when there is more clarity on the new restrictions.
