Tributes have been paid by Orkney Islands Council to North Isles Councillor Kevin Woodbridge, who passed away at the weekend following a short illness.
Councillor Woodbridge was elected to the Council in 2017
Council Convener Harvey Johnston said:
“Members were shocked and deeply saddened when we were informed of Kevin’s untimely passing.
“He was a dedicated and highly respected Councillor who brought a valuable mix of intelligence, dignity and humility to the chamber.
” Kevin was a real gentleman who will be sadly missed and our thoughts are with his family.”
The Council flag will fly at half-mast at School Place from today.
Councillor Woodbridge was Chair of the Orkney Ferries Board, vice-chair of the Orkney Health and Care committee and a member of the Development and Infrastructure, Monitoring and Audit, Policy and Resources, and Planning Committees
I am saddened to hear this. I worked with Kevin during the 2016 North Ron sheep festival. He was a fine fellow and we immediately struck up a rapport. My deepest condolences to his family and all who were close to him.
This is a hard thing to happen – hard for his family and friends – hard for all at the Bird Obs – hard for North Ronaldsay – look at what that family have done for North Ronaldsay – hard for the birding world.
A good man.
