The tree outside St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall is shining its lights out to cheer on shoppers and passers by.

And all around the town shops have decorated their windows to bring cheer at Christmastime.

Inside too there are lots of temptations to shop local.

Here’s a wee video of some of the lights and sights.

It is certainly more important than ever before to support our local shops and businesses.

  1. Missing the trucking time qnd the wonderful people I worked and spent time with on my monthly visits with 40ft mixed loads as a P&O Driver from central belt. A merry Christmas and a Happy New year to one and all Bill 🎄🥃

  2. It’s a pitty!!!!! This year we couldn’t spend our Christmas-holidays at Orkney…. so sad!
