COVID VACCINATIONS – PATIENTS AGED 80 YEARS AND OVER

NHS Orkney is now able to offer Covid vaccinations to patients who live on the mainland of Orkney aged 80 and over.

They will be inviting patients to come to the Kirkwall vaccination centre to receive the vaccination.

How to get in contact

Patients can phone 01856 888 024 to book an appointment.

The phone line will be open 09.30 – 16.30 from today Tuesday, 5 January and every working day (Monday – Friday) thereafter.

Isles patients aged 80 years and over will be contacted by their GP practice in early January to come in for an appointment.

Housebound patients who normally receive a flu vaccine at home will have their Covid vaccination undertaken in the same way throughout January, so you do not need to phone and arrange this.

If any patient has difficulty in attending for a vaccination in Kirkwall then NHS Orkney will try their best to make alternative arrangements for you.

The phone lines are extremely busy. NHS Orkney state on their Facebook page

Please do not call the Balfour switchboard or your GP. They cannot make an appointment for you. The number to dial is 01856 888024. Do not worry – if you or someone in your family is eligible you will get the vaccination.

And we must all remember to keep to FACTS.
