Yellow Warning for Snow & Ice #Orkney

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for snow and ice for Orkney for today, Friday and Saturday.

Sunny spells and snow showers. Cold and breezy.

Today:

Another bitterly cold day with a mix of wintry, mainly snow, showers and sunny spells. It will be breezy, especially across Orkney, with a strong southeasterly wind. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Tonight:

Clear spells and occasional wintry showers, again falling mainly as snow, through the evening and overnight, ice possible on untreated surfaces. Strong southeasterly winds, risk of gales later for Orkney. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Saturday:

Snow showers become confined to Shetland through the morning and then die out through the afternoon. Still feeling bitterly cold with southeasterly gales developing, perhaps severe later. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Dry, bright morning Sunday but cloudier with outbreaks of rain or sleet later, risk of severe gales. Rather cloudy Monday and Tuesday with occasional rain, but milder and winds easing.
