Dracula #OnThisDay

On 14th of February 1931 the film ‘Dracula’ starring Bela Lugosi was released.

This is the film that set the standard for all subsequent portrayals of the vampire. From a 1897 novel by Bram Stoker, and a play adaptation (1924), the film was an astounding success.

 In 2000, the film was selected by the United States Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
