A dull overcast day in the main with rain that turns heavy at times. Winds occasionally fresh across Orkney, backing to the east for the afternoon, with drier, perhaps brighter, weather feeding into Shetland towards early evening. Maximum temperature 10 °C.
Shetland seeing some early evening brightness then clear spells overnight, between scattered showers. Orkney remaining cloudy with more frequent showers that may merge to longer periods of rain at times. Minimum temperature 4 °C.
Showers, most frequent across Orkney through the rather cloudy morning. Otherwise outbreaks increasingly well scattered particularly over Shetland where the bright and sunny spells appear most readily. Northeast breezes. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Showery flow continuing through the outlook period, brought by occasionally fresh north to northeast breezes.
