May the Twenty-first…………….Bluebells…Pinkbells….Whitebells…..What happens when the Community Council has an enlightened  approach to managing a Kirkyard!

The people who mow let each ‘set’ of flowers go over before they mow the different sections.  That way, the Kirkyard starts with snowdrops, then primroses, saxifrage, and…..bells!   Then there will be Ox-eye daisies, Orange hawkweed, Campions.

It’s so easy to do, but makes a big difference to the beauty of the place for the people visiting their relatives, and also to the critters living there.

May the Twenty-second…………We went into Kirkwall….I haven’t been there for nearly a year – since the last big easing of restrictions…..took a picture….

…….felt like wearing  a badge saying  ‘I live here’.

May the Twenty-third………………….A spiral of new growth…….

May the Twenty-fourth………………A Monday pie……using up left-overs from the freezer…….appeals to the thrifty soul……

May the Twenty-fifth………………….The Bunnies ate the Bluebells!……Neatly nibbled through the stems…..I brought the remnants indoors and put them in water…….

All Bluebells in Orkney are the Spanish bluebells, and we always thought that they didn’t have a scent – but they do, which I’d never noticed when they’re outside – similar to the native Bluebell – more earthy, but still pleasing.

May the Twenty-sixth……………..Mike’s after work airing…..Communing with the Coos……..

May the Twenty-seventh………………Dandelion clocks……Time moving on……
