The Scottish Affairs Committee of the UK House of Commons will be on a evidence and fact finding mission to Orkney today, 28th of June.
This is part of its inquiry into Scotland’s Renewable Energy Industry.
The two-day visit which started yesterday, Sunday 27 June and continues today Monday 28 June, will engage with the Orkney Renewable Energy Forum (OREF) and European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).
The Committee will also visit the EMEC tidal testing centre, which is the only accredited wave and tidal test centre for marine renewable energy in the world.
Today Monday 28 June, the Committee will be holding an evidence session on renewable energy in Orkney.
It will specifically consider the UK supply chain, transmission charges and the grid, UK and Scottish Government targets, and skills and training for the renewable energy sector.
