August the Twenty-seventh……..After a particularly intensive day of on-line meetings…..On Mike’s after-work constitutional…..Balm to the soul…….There’s something about still water…..

August the Twenty-eighth……………Fire in Amber…..Sunlight from millions of years ago…..Caught……Then released…..

August the Twenty-ninth………………Not everyone’s idea of something to brighten the day……I was walking up the path at the side of our garden when I saw this poo……

…..not a dog, not a cat – not pellets, so that rules out hare or rabbit……What is it?……I came indoors, and Mike – who has a reference book for all Natural History queries – looked up mammal droppings…..It’s a hedgehog!….The pic. in the book was exactly the same as what was on our path.

This pleases me greatly..…We know that hedgehogs visit our garden, as we see them now and then……Somehow the poo makes me feel that they feel at home here…….It made my day…..Doesn’t take much….

August the Thirtieth…………..I’ve long been a fan of Mrs. Tilly’s Tablet, and of Mrs. Tilly’s Scottish Fudge..….And now……There’s Mrs. Tilly’s Honeycomb Toffee…..Known as Cinder Toffee when I was a child…….Biting into this stuff definitely puts a ‘plus’ in the day…..

August the Thirty-first……………..A fine evening by the Bay……The last day of August….September tomorrow….Autumn.

September October November – Autumn.  December January February – Winter. March April May – Spring. June July August – Summer…..So it goes.

September the First……..Away with salads……….Beans on toast for lunch……Marking the first day of Autumn!

September the Second………First hips on the Rosa Rugosa……Looking all shiny and luscious..…Won’t last long……The birds’ll have ‘em……
