The cumulative total of Covid cases in Orkney is now at 338 as 9 new positive test results were recorded in the Health Board area.



From 28th September to 4th October 2021 the cases in Orkney were as follows:
- West Mainland: 6
- Stromness, Sandwick, Stenness: 6
- East Mainland: 0 – 2
- North Isles, Linked South Isles, Hoy, Flotta: 0 – 2
The Covid stats published for Scotland on 7th of October 2021 are as follows:
- 2,691 new cases of COVID-19 reported
- 42,191 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
- 6.8% of these were positive
- 39 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
- 69 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 980 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 4,235,075 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,854,847 have received their second dose
Although vaccination figures in Scotland are very good, many people are still becoming ill with some requiring hospitalisation. There are people who because of other medical conditions are unable to be vaccinated.
- 980 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 69 were in intensive care
- in addition, yesterday 11 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days
- in the week ending 3 October, 514 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital
- in the week ending 6 October, 52 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care
- 21,755 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020
- as at 6 October, 1,505 people were delayed in hospital
To keep yourself and other safe, please remember the simple FACTS:
- get the vaccine when you are offered it
- wear a face covering where required
- wash your hands regularly, and cover your nose and mouth if coughing or sneezing
- self isolate and take a PCR test if you have symptoms
- take regular tests if you don’t have symptoms to reduce the risk of spreading the virus
- meet outside if you can, and open windows when indoors
- keep your distance from people not in your group
- work from home, or do a mixture of home and office working if possible
- use the apps: COVID status (vaccine passport), Protect Scotland and Check-in Scotland
