The cumulative total of Covid cases in Orkney is now at 351 as 7 new positive test results were recorded in the Health Board area.


From 4th to 10th of October the positive cases recorded in Orkney were as follows:
- West Mainland: 4
- Stromness, Sandwick, Stenness: 8
- East Mainland: 0 – 2
- North Isles, Linked South Isles, Hoy, Flotta: 0 – 2
The stats for Scotland published on 13th October 2021 are as follows:
- 2,581 new cases of COVID-19 reported
- 35,728 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
- 7.7% of these were positive
- 30 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
- 51 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 918 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 4,270,126 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,868,656 have received their second dose
In the week ending 10 October, 126 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.
Since the start of the outbreak:
- 8,849 people have died who have tested positive as at 13 October
- 11,262 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 10 October
- 31% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 62% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 10 October)
In the week 4 – 10 October:
- 26 deaths were of people aged under 65
- 24 were people aged 65-74
- 76 deaths of people aged 75 or over
82 deaths were male, 44 were female.
98 deaths were in hospitals, 19 were in care homes and 9 were at home or a non-institutional setting.

Hospital and ICU Covid Stats for Scotland:
- 918 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 51 were in intensive care
- in addition, yesterday 13 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days
- in the week ending 9 October, 644 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital
- in the week ending 12 October, 41 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care
- 22,163 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020
- as at 6 October, 1,505 people were delayed in hospital
To keep yourself and others safe please:
- get the vaccine when you are offered it
- wear a face covering where required
- wash your hands regularly, and cover your nose and mouth if coughing or sneezing
- self isolate and take a PCR test if you have symptoms
- take regular tests if you don’t have symptoms to reduce the risk of spreading the virus
- meet outside if you can, and open windows when indoors
- keep your distance from people not in your group
- work from home, or do a mixture of home and office working if possible
- use the apps: COVID status (vaccine passport), Protect Scotland and Check-in Scotland
