Mainly dry morning with best of the brightness early. Cloud thickening from the south from mid-day to bring some rain to Orkney towards early evening. Winds strong southwest initially across Shetland, then more generally as the easterly develops late afternoon. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Area of occasionally heavy rain across Orkney initially, extending to Shetland late evening, clearing to west overnight, with heavy showers following before dawn, as the strong to gale winds ease. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Monday 1st November:

Frequent showers, these turning heavy at times with the risk of hail and thunder. With winds relatively light these showers could be slow moving., particularly cross Orkney. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

A mix of showers and brighter spells with outbreaks frequent Tuesday, scattered Wednesday, isolated Thursday as pressure builds from the west. North to northwest winds strongest on Wednesday.
