Cloudy, showery morning, severe gales across Orkney, much lighter winds for Shetland. Becoming drier and brighter across Shetland by the afternoon, while severe gale northwest winds easing down across Orkney, but showers slow to clear here. Maximum temperature 10 °C.
Tonight:
Any remaining showers soon die out to give a dry night with some clear spells, these mainly over Shetland. Winds falling light. Minimum temperature 3 °C.
Monday 8th November:
A dry morning with some bright or perhaps sunny spells. However, south or southeast winds strengthening through the day with rain in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 12 °C.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
Frequent heavy blustery showers and southwesterly gales on Tuesday and Wednesday. Showers and winds likely to ease through Thursday, but rain possible later.

An updated FLOOD ALERT has been issued for Orkney.
This is a COASTAL flood alert
On Saturday the 6th November, due to a combination of higher than normal tides and gale force winds there is a risk of flooding from high water levels, waves and spray to causeways and low lying westerly facing coastlines.
The greatest risk is around the times of high water at 22:00 on Saturday.
Areas particularly a risk at these times are Stromness, Churchill Barriers, St Mary?s, St Margarets hope, Hoy, Westray and Sanday.
SEPA duty officers continue to monitor the situation and will issue further updates as more information becomes available.

A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Churchill Barriers.
A combination of high tides and strong westerly winds means that there is a high risk of wave overtopping and hazardous conditions at the Churchill Barriers during the next 24hrs. Road closures are likely around the time of high tide which is between 21:00 GMT and 00:00 GMT on Saturday and 09:00 GMT and 12:00 GMT on Sunday. The peak of the high tides is approximately 22:30 GMT on Saturday and 11:00 GMT on Sunday.

A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Sanday.
A combination of high tides and strong westerly winds means that there is a risk of coastal flooding in Sanday.
Any low lying coastal roads and properties across the island exposed to the prevailing wind will be subject to significant wave spray impacts. Waves overtopping roads, harbours and foreshore may lead to hazardous and unpredictable conditions. West winds in particular can impact the road between Newbiggings and Burness at Quivals farm.
The highest risk will be a few hours either side of high tide. The next two high tides are at 23:30 GMT on Saturday and 12:00 GMT on Sunday at Kettletoft.

A combination of high tides and strong westerly winds means that coastal flooding of low lying roads and properties is possible. The highest risk will be a few hours either side of high tide and the next high tides of concern are at 21:30 GMT on Saturday and 10:00 GMT on Sunday.
Large and overtopping waves are likely and in places could cause hazardous unpredictable conditions.
