A dry morning with some bright or sunny spells. Thickening cloud and rain reaching Orkney early this afternoon then Shetland late afternoon. Rain accompanied by strengthening southerly winds with risk of gales later. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy and mild with rain at first. The rain will move away early tonight with clear periods developing and turning cooler. Lighter southwesterly winds. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Tuesday 9th November:

A much brighter day with sunny spells. Also dry for much of the time with just a few passing showers in the afternoon. Fresh occasionally strong southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Sunny spells and scattered showers on Wednesday and Thursday with fresh or strong southwest winds. Wet and windy weather for a time on Friday.
