A bright day with some sunny intervals, and occasional showers, these frequent and blustery in the morning but becoming more scattered later as the strong westerly winds ease. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Clear intervals and isolated showers this evening, then becoming cloudy with outbreaks of rain tonight, some on the heavy side. Southwesterly winds strengthening overnight. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Thursday 18th November:

Orkney will stay dull with some light rain or drizzle. A damp start for Shetland but brightening up with some sunny intervals before cloudy damp conditions return later. Windy, milder. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Friday mainly dry and bright, but windy with severe gales possible for Shetland. Bright and showery over the weekend, turning colder.
