Scotland’s Suffragette Trump Cards Go To Schools

Packs of cards which celebrate the Suffrage movement in Scotland and those who campaigned so that women would have the right to vote are being sent out to Scottish schools.

The cards feature facts about those activists who campaigned in the late 19th and early 20th Century.

The project ‘Protests and Suffragettes’ has also produced education packs. Each pack contains 7 decks of cards, 10 ‘Rent Strikers & Suffragettes’ zines and over 50 pages of digital teaching resources, lesson plans, slides, and activity worksheets designed by professional educators Braw Talent.

The Orkney News produced an award winning animation by Orcadian artist Martin Laird about the suffragist movement in Orkney. – A Gude Cause Maks A Strong Erm. The research for this animation by Fiona Grahame and additional work by the archivists at Orkney Library and Archive also contributed to the project.

By this coming week schools will have received  100 Education Packs on Scotland’s Suffrage History – that’s 1,000 free zines, 700 decks of Suffragette Trumps, and almost 38,000 individual Suffrage/tte Trumps cards to young people across Scotland.
