Gale to severe gale west to southwest winds, perhaps touching storm force across Shetland at first, before gradually easing from the south from late morning. Frequent showers through the day, heavy at times bringing the risk of hail and thunder. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Scattered showers through the evening, which merge to longer periods of rain towards dawn, as the strong westerly winds back southwest and occasionally touch gale force. Minimum temperature 3 °C.
Tuesday 14th December:
Overcast with strong to gale southwest winds and periods of occasionally heavy rain. Winds easing a little through the afternoon, with rain clearing to showers across Shetland before evening. Maximum temperature 11 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Some patchy rain at times Thursday, but otherwise dry with brighter spells and occasionally strong west to southwest winds.

SEPA FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Churchill Barriers.
A combination of high tides and strong south westerly winds means that there is a high risk of wave overtopping and hazardous conditions at the Churchill Barriers during the next 24hrs. Road closures are likely around the time of high tide which is around 06:00 AM GMT on 13/12.
