Very touched to see this in TON with my photo.
I met Archbishop Tutu in St Andrews in the 1990s and told him I had his father’s wisdom on our fridge:
“Don’t raise your voice, improve your argument.”
He was his usual lively vocal self and called across the room to his wife: “Leah, this woman has Father on her fridge.” And then told me quite forcefully that I should return to South Africa despite my protestations that my life and children were here and had been since 1970. He moved on through the gathering and delivered a brilliant address without a single note.
