A dry bright morning. Thickening cloud will bring rain to Orkney this afternoon reaching Shetland by early evening, Strong south to southeast winds with gales later. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Rain moving away from Shetland early tonight then clear interludes and scattered showers overnight. The showers may turn wintry over Orkney by morning. Lighter westerly winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C.
Friday 7th January:
A bright day with sunny spells and still some showers. The showers mainly in the morning, dying out during the afternoon. Fresh west or northwest winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Dry, bright start Saturday then a band of rain crossing the Isles. Sunshine, a few showers on Sunday then showers or longer spells of rain on Monday. Windy at times.
