Today 31st January:

A bright day with sunny spells and occasional sleet or snow showers, these turning to rain across Orkney later. Strong to gale northwesterly winds will ease during the afternoon. A cold day especially over Shetland. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Early wintry showers over Shetland, then turning cloudy and milder with outbreaks of rain and drizzle arriving this evening. Turning clearer in early hours with scattered showers, but westerly gales. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Tuesday 1st February:

Bright or sunny intervals and occasional showers. West to northwesterly gales, becoming severe over Orkney. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Rather cloudy with patchy rain on Wednesday and early Thursday. Southerly gales, heavy rain on Thursday afternoon, then colder with wintry showers Thursday evening and Friday.
