Frequent wintry showers, heavy at times bringing the risk of hail and thunderstorms. Very cold in strong to gale west to northwest winds, that may touch severe gale for a time across north Shetland. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Tonight:
Wintry showers, initially frequent, dwindling from late evening. Area of rain sleet and snow spreading towards Orkney towards dawn. Strong to gale winds easing a touch and backing southwest overnight. Minimum temperature 0 °C.
Saturday 5th February:
Dull, wet morning with snow initially to quite low levels. Gradually through afternoon mix of clear spells and increasingly wintry showers spreading from the north. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Frequent and occasionally heavy wintry showers for Sunday. Monday turning milder and cloudy with occasional rain. Tuesday uncertain but current thoughts are for sunshine and further wintry showers.
