Brief sunny spells and frequent blustery, wintry showers. The showers, a mix of rain, snow and hail, will be occasionally heavy and perhaps thundery. A cold, breezy day with strong northwesterly winds, with gales across Shetland later. Maximum temperature 5 °C.
Tonight:
Clear spells this evening and overnight with showers becoming increasingly confined to Shetland, but even here largely dying out by dawn. Gale or severe gale force northwesterly winds easing later. Minimum temperature 0 °C.
Monday 7th February:
Bright, mainly dry start, but cloud and outbreaks of rain reaching Orkney late morning and Shetland by mid-afternoon. Rain clearing to showers in evening. Strengthening southerly or southwesterly winds. Milder. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
Clear or sunny spells and showers through the coming days, the showers becoming increasingly wintry through Wednesday and Thursday. Windy with occasional westerly or northwesterly gales, severe at times.
