A cloudy day with patchy rain and drizzle through the morning, then turning more persistent through the day, especially for Orkney. Strong southeasterly winds, occasionally reaching gale at first, but easing for Orkney later. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Rain and drizzle continuing through the evening and overnight. This clearing Orkney by morning but persisting across Shetland. Strong southerly winds at first, particularly Shetland, but easing by morning. Minimum temperature 5 °C.
Friday 4th March:
Cloud and rain clearing Shetland through the morning. Then mainly dry and bright, with an odd shower and light winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
A dry and settled weekend with light winds and some overnight frost inland. Mainly dry on Monday but rather cloudy, and turning breezy again.
