Fresh to strong west to southwest winds will sweep quite frequent and occasionally heavy showers across the Northern Isles today, bringing some risk of thunderstorms. However brighter spells will lift the temperatures to the seasonal average. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
Tonight:
Showers and clear spells with outbreaks scattered through the evening, tending to turn heavier and more frequent overnight, particularly across Shetland. West to southwest winds strong. Minimum temperature 10 °C.
Sunday 2nd October:
Another day of showers and brighter spells, but outbreaks will be lighter and less frequent than Saturday, while the best of the brightness is expected across Shetland. Strong westerly winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
Fair start for Monday, but rain, strengthening winds spreading from west later. Details difficult thereafter, but mostly unsettled with periods of rain or showers.
