The RSPB has created a wonderful new pathway on the banks of Loch Lomond which are indeed bonnie.
At this time of year you will see large movements of migrating birds – some heading south to a warmer climate, others seeking refuge winter further north.
There are lots of RSPB nature reserves that you can visit all year round – some almost right on your doorstep. You can check them out here by clicking on this link: Find a Nature Reserve
There are 12 listed for Orkney:
- Birsay Moors
- Brodgar
- Cottasgarth and Rendall Moss
- Hobbister
- Hoy
- Marwick Head
- Mill Dam Shapinsay
- North Hill
- Noup Cliffs
- Onziebust
- The Loons and Loch of Banks
- Trumland
And to get you enthused the RSPB has this lovely video of the new path at Loch Lomond:
