Feeling very cold on a day of snow showers, these heaviest and more frequent across Shetland through the afternoon. Winds strong northeasterly backing to the north during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
Tonight:
Winter continues in earnest with frequent snow showers, turning heavy at times, brought on strong to near gale biting northerly winds. Minimum temperature -2 °C.
Wednesday 14th December:
Further frequent wintry showers, heavy at times, carried on strong to gale north to northwest winds. Risk hail and thunder, but also chance turning to rain sporadically later across Shetland. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:
Frequent rain, sleet, snow and hail showers early Thursday, easing later as northerly winds decrease. Winds turning southwesterly from Friday, bringing periods of rain and snow at times.
