Frequent wintry showers, heavy at times, carried on gale or severe gale north to northwest winds. Risk hail and the odd rumble of thunder and turning to rain at times around the coast later. Bitterly cold in the wind. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Further wintry showers, often of rain or sleet around the coast with any lying snow confined to the hills. Still windy, but easing a little. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Thursday 15th December:

Wintry showers continuing with some bright or clear spells. North to northwest winds mainly moderate. Cold with a risk of ice and lying snow. Maximum temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Wintry showers becoming well scattered on Friday, winds mainly light. Less cold as winds turn into the south or southwest over the weekend, rain and gales at times.

  1. It’s good to see the traditional lamp-post decorations – they seem to be disappearing – replaced by a string of white lights wrapped around the pole. Why?
