Today 19th December:
Cloudy with rain at times, some low cloud possible across Shetland. A much milder day with a quite a rapid thaw of any lying snow and ice. Strong southeasterly winds easing by afternoon. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Tonight:
Cloud and rain clearing north during the evening, clears spells for Shetland after midnight, southwesterly winds strengthening by dawn and perhaps an isolated shower. Minimum temperature 5 °C.
Tuesday 20th December:
Blustery showers on fresh southwesterly winds however Orkney will miss the majority of these and remain dry. Feeling a little cooler again too. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
A showery outlook for the rest of the week but a few brighter spells too. Showers turning to sleet or snow for Shetland on Friday, often fresh or strong winds.
