Sunny intervals and passing showers during the day. The showers will turn increasingly wintry during evening as colder air feeds in. Strong southerly then westerly winds with gales over Shetland. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Wintry showers through the night, turning to rain by morning, westerly gales continuing into Boxing day and becoming severe gales by dawn for Shetland. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Monday 26th December:

Severe gales on Boxing day and continuing showery a few brighter spells developing later, feeling very cold in the strong winds. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Winds easing on Tuesday and a bright start but further wind and rain reaching Orkney in the afternoon. Sunshine and showers on Wednesday before further wind and rain on Thursday.
