A rather cloudy day with a few showers, these mostly across Shetland this morning and again later this afternoon. Orkney seeing some good spells of drier weather. Light winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Tonight:

A few showers across Shetland this evening. Longer spells of rain will develop across Orkney towards midnight, then extend into Shetland in the early hours. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Thursday 29th December:

Shetland will be cloudy with periods of rain, occasionally heavy. Rain across Orkney in the morning, turning drier in the afternoon. Windy later with strong to gale northwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Early showers on Friday then mostly dry, rain for Orkney later. Changeable over the weekend with showers, some longer spells of rain at first on Saturday.
