A mostly dry day with long sunny periods. Cloud thickening later across Orkney bringing the chance of one or two snow showers. A cold day with light to moderate breezes. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

A clear frosty evening for Shetland. Some heavier showers over Orkney these turning to rain, these pushing up to Shetland overnight as Orkney turns clearer with some ice. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Monday 2nd January:

A bright day with some sunny spells and one or two passing rain showers. A bit milder with fairly light winds. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Mostly dry Tuesday but windy, showers for a time. A wet windy evening. Some rain on Wednesday then windy and showery on Thursday.
