A bright morning with a few scattered showers and light westerly winds. Cloud and rain will reach Orkney during the afternoon with strong southerly winds. Staying mainly dry and bright across Shetland. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Heavy rain across Orkney will quickly reach Shetland before clearing away northeast. Dry for a time before more showers arrive overnight. Strong south or southwest winds with gales later. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Friday 6th January:

A mainly cloudy day with frequent blustery showers. West or southwesterly gales, severe across Orkney in the morning, will ease during the afternoon. Showers also easing during the evening. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

A wet and windy start to Saturday then a bright afternoon with lighter winds. Bright spells and blustery showers on Sunday and Monday with strong winds at times.
